Meet Denis Pato, ICT4D Youth Online Facilitator
Denis Pato, (BA), is an ICT4D Youth Online Facilitator with WOUGNET.
Denis is a Youth Development worker. With three years experience as a Communication Associate with Straight Talk Foundation, East Africa’s leading adolescent Reproductive Health and communication organization, Denis has practical experience working with young people aged 13-24 years. Denis has been directly involved in helping young people to face the challenges of preventing, managing and living positively with chronic and terminal illnesses through group and one-on-one counseling. He has worked with in-school and out-of-school young people in all regions of Uganda proactively addressing their sexual and reproductive health rights and responsibilities, as well as engaging them in identifying practical and sustainable models for the prevention of contractible diseases and infections. He has helped to rehabilitate adolescents who have been affected by trauma and violence, by engaging them in positive mind challenges. Denis has three years’ experience in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health communication.
Denis is currently working as Program Coordinator with Maisha Foundation on a youth cultural development project initiated by the Royal Danish Embassy Kampala in co-operation with Maisha Film Lab, Danish Film Institute and Danish Center for Culture and Development (DCCD), implementing a Youth & Film Project in central, northern, eastern and western parts of Uganda. This is a project which aims at helping Ugandan youth to tell their stories through the art of film making.
Denis holds a BA degree in Social Sciences with predisposition to International Relations and Psychology from Makerere University, Kampala.
