Job Advertisement: Gorilla Conservation Coffee Sales Manager position in Uganda



Gorilla Conservation Coffee (GCC), www.gccoffee.org, is a social enterprise of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH), created with support from Worldwide Fund for Nature Switzerland. GCC improves livelihoods of coffee farmers bordering gorilla habitats through training to produce quality coffee, which is purchased at  a premium and marketed to conscious consumers globally. A donation from every bag of coffee sold supports CTPH’s community health and gorilla conservation NGO programs. We are developing a world class high impact global coffee brand to enable sustainable financing for gorilla conservation.


SUMMARY:

GCC is seeking a professional experienced Sales Manager to develop and oversee the Company’s coffee sales of roasted branded coffee to retailers and end customers and green coffee to traders and roasters. This is a new position for GCC and an opportunity to work with our team to drive the next evolution of our business.

This candidate must be an energetic and enthusiastic individual, able to obtain new accounts locally and internationally. The Sales Manager must have a natural, contagious, and engaging personality with the ability to be creative and resourceful.

The Sales Manager will be paid a base salary plus commission for increasing sales.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of demonstrated success in sales, experience in coffee preferred
• Knowledge of principles and methods of selling, including with respect to specialty products or services in a relationship-based sales model
• Demonstrated experience managing a team
• Ability to travel for industry events or client visits, flexibility in work schedule to include occasional evenings/weekends
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite products, including ability to utilize data analysis tools for the development and sharing of metrics
• Comfort with various social media platforms
• Experience in international sales is preferred
• Engagement with Specialty Coffee Industry, as demonstrated by participation in professional organizations is an added advantage

• Ability to successfully manage the day to day activities of a team
• Identify problems and use critical thinking to find solutions through independent research
• Ability to contribute to building a positive spirit while supporting everyone’s efforts to succeed
• Interest in conservation work and improvements in livelihood of coffee farmers


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

With guidance from Senior Management, the Sales Manager will develop annual sales, revenue, and profitability goals and develop and implement strategies to achieve them, including:

• Leadership in the creation of the Company’s Sales Process
• Developing the skills and capabilities of the sales team
• Identification and development of sales leads and customer retention plans
• Evaluation and lead implementation of Customer Relationship Management program and other sales tools
• Analyzing performance metrics and further developing forecasting, budgeting, reporting/KPIs to support the Company’s sales goals

The Sales Manager will report to the COO, and will have cross-departmental collaboration with:

• Operations/Quality Control Manager, Coffee Field Productions Officer and GCC baristas to create seamless customer interactions across departments
• Manage inventory and plan purchases to support sales goal/projections, as well as to develop pricing strategies
• Social Media Marketer to improve awareness and positive association of the GCC brand through the development and utilization of marketing strategy and materials and contribution of content to GCC website and social media
• Align with GCC Finance and Administration Manager to ensure appropriate terms and credit

• Ability to mix with any crowd
• Persistent, even when turned down frequently
