Project
Overview
In Uganda, the situation of ‘all women,’
especially structurally silenced women such as LBT and sex workers needs to
improve Uganda, as well as WHRDs, needs to be safer and able to advocate for
rights freely and safely internationally, regionally, and nationally without
fear of reprisal. OVOF will work to change the situation of structurally
silenced women including sex workers, LBT people, WHRDs, young women, those
living in rural communities or from historically excluded counties and
districts, and those across constituencies and identities. OVOF aims at working
with women’s rights organizations, feminist and women’s movements, larger LGBTIQ
movements, diverse community leaders, cultural leaders, families, artists, and
the media. This will be done by relying on feminist movement networks, such as
those accessed by CREA to work together and use media as a strategic tool to
influence and shape public opinion on the needs of LBT and sex worker
communities, mobilized sex workers to have their capacity strengthened while
linking them with both legal and health services and collectivized the sex
workers movement for shared goals in the country and the region. OVOF’s work is
to change the situation of these structurally silenced women from historically
excluded counties and districts, and those across constituencies and
identities.
