Advocating for Freedoms of Structurally Silenced Women in Uganda: A Case for Legal and Policy Reforms

Structurally silenced women face a range of challenges in the exercise of their human rights and fundamental human rights. They are treated differently because of their gender, gender identity, opinions, and beliefs. In this policy brief, structurally silenced women are defined to include sex workers; Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transwomen (LBT) women; young women; and feminist activists. This policy brief reviews the implications of the various issues and proposes recommendations that are expected to improve the human rights situation of structurally silenced women in Uganda.
