Funders: Internews

Goal: Empower women HRDs and journalists to take digital safety into their own hands through public awareness raising and keeping themselves and their communities safer online

Project Overview

Internews, in partnership with DefendDefenders, WOUGNET, and others, proposes FemTech- Africa, a 24-month program to empower women HRDs and journalists in Cameroon, DRC, Senegal, and Uganda to fully and safely participate in increasingly digital societies. The project’s two-pronged model offers both immediate digital safety training and long-term systemic policy and advocacy support to help women survive and thrive in a digital world. FemTech-Africa will empower 200 women across four countries with stronger digital safety skills, and the ability to pass on to their communities approaches to mitigate online violence.

Project Duration: 24- months
