Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) at RightsCon 2023

This year, RightsCon, the global summit organized by Access Now, will host its 12th edition from 5th to 8th June 2023 in Costa Rica with physical and online participation. RightsCon aims to bring stakeholders, tech companies, government representatives, and human rights defenders together so as to foster a future that respects digital rights.

In its hybrid format, RightsCon will present a diverse program consisting of over 600 sessions. WOUGNET  will actively participate during the summit.

WOUGNET’s participation in RightsCon will primarily revolve around key themes; Gender justice, gender backlash online, surveillance, data justice and governance, tech policy and ICT laws, cyber security, and online gender-based violence among others.

During the event, WOUGNET aims to achieve several goals and objectives. These include promoting the use of ICTs by women and women organizations to combat online gender backlash and shedding more light on the challenges women organizations are facing online. They also aim to contribute to the event’s themes by sharing insights on the relationship between digital technologies and women’s online rights.

WOUGNET will also participate in topics that are relevant to the organization so as to acquire new knowledge that promotes women’s rights online so as to have an inclusive and just society where women and girls are enabled to use ICTs for sustainable development.
