Promoting Gender-Inclusive Online Spaces in Uganda
This animated report simplifies the key challenges that hinder gender-inclusive online spaces in Uganda, highlighting issues such as low digital literacy, high internet costs, limited access, online gender-based violence, and regressive cultural norms. Government actions, including internet shutdowns and restrictive legal measures, further exacerbate the problem. The report recommends that the government enhance women’s participation in policy-making, integrate technology education in schools, and review laws that limit fundamental rights. Addressing these challenges will foster safer, gender-inclusive online spaces in Uganda.
