Promoting Gender-Inclusive Online Spaces in Uganda
This position paper outlines the imperative for creating and sustaining gender-inclusive online spaces in Uganda. It details the gender disparities in digital engagement, where women and girls often face online harassment, limited access to technology, and a lack of representation. The paper advocates for comprehensive strategies to foster safe, equitable, and inclusive digital environments. Key recommendations include implementing stringent policies against online gender-based violence, enhancing digital literacy programs tailored for women, and promoting female leadership in tech industries. By ensuring that online spaces are welcoming and supportive for all genders, the paper argues, Uganda can harness the full potential of its digital revolution to promote gender equality and social inclusion.
