WOUGNET (Women of Uganda Network) invites you to contribute to a magazine under our Our Voices, Our Futures (OVOF) initiative where art meets activism to dismantle oppressive social norms in the digital age.
We are producing a collaborative magazine that uses art, media, and cultural expression to counter dominant narratives that reinforce gender inequality and other forms of oppression. This is your opportunity to share your voice and shape alternative discourses that empower, liberate, and inspire.
What We’re Looking For:
We are calling on artists, writers, media producers, poets, feminists, and cultural practitioners to submit creative work that:
- It confronts harmful social norms and gender-based oppression online and offline.
- Celebrates feminist resistance and reimagines inclusive futures.
- Uses creative mediums such as:
- Poetry, spoken word
- Short fiction and essays
- Visual art (illustration, painting, collage)
- Photography
- Comics and graphic stories
- Music and sound art
- Video or short films
- Hybrid or multimedia work
We particularly encourage submissions that center intersectional feminist narratives, challenge digital gender-based violence, and celebrate the power of African cultural expression.
Why Contribute?
- Be featured in a print and digital magazine distributed across Uganda and online.
- Connect with a network of creators, artists, and activists.
- Amplify your work on platforms that challenge oppressive systems.
- Help shape a cultural archive of resistance, transformation, and hope.
Submission Guidelines:
- Original and unpublished work only.
- Submit your piece(s) as a Word document, PDF, or media file (for visual/audio/video work).
- Include a short artist bio (max 150 words) and a brief note (max 100 words) on how your work contributes to counter-discourse.
- Multiple submissions are welcome.
