Dr.Peace Musiimenta- Chairperson
Dr.Peace Musiimenta is a professional teacher, Senior Lecturer and researcher at the School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University. Peace holds a PhD in Gender studies, Masters in Women Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with Education from Makerere University. She has a certificate in the Professional Development Programme for Gender Trainers from KIT (Netherlands). Dr. Peace was hosted as a Guest researchers’ scholarship programme awardee at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), Sweden September –December 2022, and research fellow at the University of Jyväskylä, (May,2023). working on her project titled Masculinities revisited: change, continuities and fractures in Western Uganda. Her current project, Towards transformative gender studies pedagogy for challenging power relations and dominance in academia is funded by Andrew W. Mellon Foundation of New York as part of the projects under the Center of Excellence in Research, Teaching and Learning (CERTL). Peace’s research interests include gender and agriculture, women’s socio-economic empowerment, gender and education, children and family issues and masculinity studies among others.
She is currently heading the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) E-learning department; a member of College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Research Ethics Committee (CAES REC), and also mentoring MasterCard Scholarship beneficiaries at Makerere University and other students in different Universities in Uganda. She is passionate about supporting young people to discover themselves.
