Irene Marunga Katushabe

Communications Associate

Irene Marunga Katushabe is the Communications Associate under Information Sharing and Networking. She is dedicated to amplifying women’s voices across Uganda and promoting gender equality both online and offline through her innate curiosity and belief in the power of communication to effect change.
Irene pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University, where she acquired her skills in journalism, public relations, and strategic communication.
As a Communication Associate at Women of Uganda Network, she plays a vital role in the ongoing struggle for gender equality and empowerment through her exceptional writing skills combined with an understanding of the power of digital media to effectively convey the struggles and triumphs of women and girls from diverse backgrounds.
Irene envisions a future where gender equality is fully realized, and every woman in Uganda has the opportunity to thrive and reach her full potential.
Beyond her professional contributions, Irene is an active advocate for gender equality, regularly participating in workshops and conferences, loves writing, documenting, photography, and volunteering and she is always ready to learn and share knowledge with others.
